    Legal professionals

Richard specialises in solicitors’ negligence cases involving “family” money cases (particularly, matrimonial finance, inheritance and private client work).

Being as skilled in the application of the procedural requirements of the FPR and the CPR and being familiar with the practice requirements across the Divisions, he is sought after for this specialist work. His work involves substantive law matters, procedural failings and issues of professional standards.

  • Family

Richard’s family work is a cornerstone of his practice. He has advised and represented the exceptionally wealthy – including bankers, politicians, celebrity wives, and entrepreneurs. However, the more difficult cases that he undertakes can often be those where the liabilities threaten the stability of life after divorce or partnership dissolution, whether he can be strategically adept.

Family – Finances after relationship breakdown but also when all is well

Richard’s expertise in relation to family breakdown and finance includes:

    • Matrimonial finance
    • Civil partnership
    • Pre-nuptial & post-marriage/civil partnership agreements
    • Cohabitation and property disputes
    • Conflicting law cases – particular where family money disputes overlap with third party claims and Chancery disputes such as trusts, inheritance, wills, insolvency, partnership, companies and professional negligence.

Advising parents before a child’s marriage and in relation to inheritance planning is a positive advisory role.

    Family – Children

It can often help to have a barrister acting for a client in children matters when also dealing with financial disputes, particularly where they are difficult or acrimonious.

    • Residence and contact issues
    • Removal from the jurisdiction
    • Children’s property rights issues
    • Schedule 1 Children Act 1989 claims.
