Keywords: Landlord and tenant, disrepair, plaster.

The landlord’s obligation to repair the "structure" of the premises under s11 Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 included an obligation to repair plasterwork. This was the decision that decided the vexed question of whether plasterwork, which is often damaged by condensation damp, forms part of the structure of a premises held under a short term lease.

This is a significant case for all council and social housing tenants.

John de Waal acted for the appellant.
