We are delighted to announce that three of our members, Brie Stevens-Hoare, Peter Kirby and John de Waal, have been appointed as QC.  This development significantly strengthens our Commercial, Property and Professional Negligence practices.

Property expert Brie Stevens-Hoare, whose clients commend her for being a “robust advocate” (Chambers UK, 2013), mainly focuses on disputes relating to development projects, commercial property, or in the niche area of franchising. Michelle is also a highly sought after mediator.

Peter (PJ) Kirby has an extensive practice in commercial dispute resolution, professional negligence and costs litigation. PJ acted in one of the most keenly awaited professional negligence cases of the year relating to mortgage fraud. He is recommended in Chambers UK as a “strong advocate and a good pleader” (Chambers UK, 2013).

John de Waal specialises in chancery and commercial work and is particularly acclaimed for his expertise in property law and property related professional negligence.  He has succeeded in four Court of Appeal cases in the last 21 months, and his clients praise him for his “ability to condense the claim down to the main issues very quickly and to respond to them accordingly” (Chambers UK, 2013).

Amanda Illing, Hardwicke’s Chief Executive, says “we are thrilled about the appointment to silk of three exceptional barristers at Hardwicke. Their appointments will strengthen the excellent service we are able to give our clients, and enable Hardwicke to forge ahead with its strategic aims.”

Joint Heads of Chambers Nigel Jones QC and Paul Reed QC comment:  “We congratulate Brie, PJ and John on their success. All three have an excellent reputation in their fields and their appointment will add greatly to Hardwicke’s success in the future.”
