Gatehouse Chambers’ team deserves its reputation for excellence across the spectrum of clinical negligence and personal injury work including claims with an international dimension. Every single member of the team of 10 years’ call and above is individually recognised as a leading practitioner in the legal directories. Our members are regularly involved in ground-breaking test litigation on liability and quantum claims of the highest value and complexity, both domestically and internationally.
We are instructed for both Claimants and Defendants in the cross-section of clinical negligence, complimentary medical and cosmetic fields, both for and against NHS Resolution, the MPS, MDU, private hospitals and insurers. The team’s injury work encompasses the full range of liability issues and all types of claims from the catastrophic to the less serious.
The breadth of our reported cases on liability, quantum and procedure demonstrates our excellence in Court advocacy and our members are also highly rated for their negotiating skills in all forms of ADR, whether using chambers’ dedicated ADR suite or elsewhere. We pride ourselves our forensic approach to our work, giving practical and down-to-earth advice, then determining and seeing through the appropriate strategy for a client’s case.
We regularly deal with insurance coverage issues arising out of injury and clinical negligence work (see also our Insurance expertise page). Our members sit as part-time judges in the High Court and County Court and on industry bodies. We write for the leading publications (see Books) and deliver highly rated training. In addition to our experience as counsel, the Team has accredited mediators, arbitrators and part-time judicial appointees within our ranks; all of whose experience informs the way in which cases are handled to our clients’ best advantage (see the ADR Hub).
