Probationary tenancies
Gatehouse Chambers has vacancies for up to three specialist third six probationary tenancy barristers to join our successful and forward‑thinking set.
We invite applications from candidates who are interested in developing their practice in one of the following areas:
- Construction
- Property
- Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Inquests and Inquiries
Successful applicants will demonstrate strong analytical and drafting abilities, together with excellent advocacy skills. They should show a genuine commitment to developing a practice within one of the identified areas, while recognising that early practice may involve a degree of mixed work as experience is gained.
Candidates will be keen to work collaboratively within the relevant specialist team(s) and to contribute positively to Chambers as a whole.
Gatehouse Chambers has a strong reputation across its core specialist practice areas and offers a supportive, collegiate environment in which junior practitioners are encouraged to build sustainable and rewarding careers within a multidisciplinary set. Our facilities and dedicated practice management support are designed to assist barristers at every stage of their development.
Third six probationary tenancy barristers will be assessed and considered for membership at the end of six months.
Guaranteed earnings are £37,500 net for third six probationary tenancy barristers.

Interviews
All applicants will be notified by Friday 17th July 2026 whether they have been shortlisted for interview.
First‑round interviews: week commencing 20th July 2026.
All interviews will be held in person at Gatehouse Chambers.
