Lesley Anderson QC appears on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education to obtain the first special education administration order made under the Technical and Further Education Act since the relevant provisions came into force in January 2019
Lesley Anderson KC appeared on 22 May 2019 on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education instructed by Womble Bond Dickinson before Chief ICC Judge Briggs to obtain an education administration order in relation to the financially distressed Hadlow College in Tonbridge, Kent. This is the first occasion on which a special education administration order has been made pursuant to Chapter 4 of the Technical and Further Education Act 2017 since the relevant provisions came into force in January 2019. The new procedure is governed by The Education Administration Rules 2018 and provides for an education administration order to be made in relation to an insolvent further education body in order to avoid or minimise disruption to the studies of the existing students.
