All Rise: Barristers unite to tackle abusive behaviour at the Bar

All Rise is a project inviting the Bar to step up and actively create a better culture for all barristers. The aim of the project is to encourage 25% of barristers to be active bystanders against bullying, belittling and bad behaviour – inviting the Bar to step up and actively create a better culture for all barristers.

The initiative is headed by four barristers – Morayo Fagborun Bennett (Hardwicke), Bo Kay Fung (Financial Conduct Authority), Chris Gutteridge (Exchange Chambers) and Lydia Pemberton (3 Paper Buildings) – who met on the Bar Council’s Leadership Programme.

The team have designed and produced a pin badge that barristers can wear in chambers or at their place of work and at court as a symbol of allyship. The pin badges are wooden, environmentally friendly, and come on a recycled cardboard backer that can be re-used as a bookmark.

The initiative has been picked up by various media outlets including The Times, Legal Cheek and The Law Society Gazette.

Donations can be made at the group’s Open Collective page here.

Please contact Morayo if you have any questions about the initiative.
