Gatehouse Chambers welcomes property and chancery barrister William Richardson

Gatehouse Chambers is delighted to welcome William Richardson as a member of Chambers.

Called to the Bar in 2018, William has a broad civil practice spanning property, private client and commercial work. He regularly appears in both the County Court and High Court in matters ranging from half-day interim applications to multi-day trials.

William has particular experience in residential and commercial property disputes, including landlord and tenant matters, possession claims, leasehold disputes, forfeiture, adverse possession, easements and TOLATA claims. His wider practice encompasses contentious probate and beneficial ownership disputes, as well as high-value commercial claims, company disputes and personal and corporate insolvency proceedings.

Taking a commercially focused and pragmatic approach, William works closely with his solicitors to understand each client’s objectives and identify the most effective route to achieving them. He also maintains a busy advisory and paperwork practice, regularly drafting pleadings, applications and opinions.

Joint Head of Chambers, Charles Bagot KC, commented on William’s arrival: “We are thrilled to welcome William to Gatehouse Chambers. His outstanding track record and reputation for client service make him a perfect fit for our thriving property and private client teams.”

CEO Amanda Illing added: “William’s strong civil practice, advocacy experience and pragmatic, client-focused approach make him an excellent fit for Chambers. His arrival further strengthens our offering across property, private client, commercial litigation and insolvency, and we very much look forward to working with him.”

William is a member of the Commercial Bar Association, Property Bar Association and Chancery Bar Association.
