Practice overview
Miranda joined Gatehouse in 2025, following successful completion of her pupillage. She has a broad commercial law practice, with a particular interest in construction and insolvency law. Miranda has appeared both led and unled in the High Court and is regularly instructed to appear in the County Court.
Miranda graduated with a BA in English from Harvard University before completing her Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP Bristol, during which she won numerous prizes and scholarships. Miranda completed the Bar Vocational Studies at City Law School with Distinction, for which she was awarded the Goldie Scholarship by Gray’s Inn. Miranda went on to obtain a Distinction in her LLM in International Commercial Law at UCL, achieving the highest mark in the year in her Commercial Remedies paper.
During pupillage, Miranda was awarded the Atkin Senior Scholarship by Gray’s Inn, one of the Inn’s most prestigious scholarships awarded to pupils of exceptional merit.
Before commencing pupillage, Miranda worked as a Senior Editor at FromCounsel, a corporate law knowledge publisher used by leading UK law firms, where she assisted with building a new restructuring and insolvency law knowledge service.
Miranda enjoys running half-marathons and marathons, having recently completed the London Marathon in the spring of 2024.

Commercial dispute resolution
Miranda has experience of all stages of litigation in commercial disputes. Her recent work has included:
- Acting (led by Ryan Hocking) for a company in a High Court claim against a former director for breach of his statutory and fiduciary duties and a former employee for dishonest assistance.
- Appearing as sole counsel in the High Court (TCC) in a commercial lease dispute over works totalling c.£330,000.
- Acting in a set aside application in relation to a claim involving allegations of fraud by a guarantor and former director of a debtor company.
- Regularly instructed to settle written pleadings in contractual disputes between a major water retailer and businesses over water charges.
- Drafting particulars of claim for breach of a guarantee agreement for sums totalling over £80,000.
- During pupillage, assisted Miguel Henderson and Alice Whyte (led by Nigel Jones KC, Sarah McCann, Lisa Freeman (of Furnival Chambers) and Emily Betts) with research for the closing submissions in Skatteforvaltningen (Danish Customs and Tax Authority) v Solo Capital Partners LLP & Ors, involving claims for £1.4bn in deceit, conspiracy, unjust enrichment, breach of constructive trust, dishonest assistance and knowing receipt arising out of complex share trading.
- During pupillage, assisted Paul Strelitz with research in a multi-day strike out and summary judgment application in a seven figure breach of warranty dispute.
- Insolvency & restructuring
Insolvency & restructuring
Miranda is regularly instructed to represent parties in winding up petitions and bankruptcy petitions. She volunteers with the Company Insolvency Pro Bono Scheme (COIN) in the winding up court.
Miranda acted (led by Ryan Hocking) for a company in a High Court claim against a former director for breach of his statutory and fiduciary duties and a former employee for dishonest assistance.
Miranda also gained experience of a range of insolvency and company disputes during pupillage.

Construction & engineering
Miranda has experience of various construction-related cases. Her recent construction work has included:
- Acting (led by Michael Wheater KC) in adjudication proceedings arising from a shock load on a crane.
- Acting (led by Simon Kerry) in a dispute over alleged defects in a damp proof course at a new build property.
- Appearing as sole counsel in the High Court (TCC) in a commercial lease dispute over works totalling c.£330,000.
- Drafting a defence in a claim for non-payment of a retention sum under a JCT contract.
- Drafting a defence in a dispute over an alleged breach of a NHBC builder warranty.
- Advising on a claim against a contractor in a substantial residential building dispute involving issues of betterment.
- Acting for a contractor in a one day trial involving a claim for breach of contract and a counterclaim for final payment.

Miranda accepts instructions in both commercial and residential property disputes.
She regularly appears in the County Court for small claims and fast-track trials and hearings, including possession, directions hearings, and interim applications. She also has a broad written practice and is frequently instructed to advise on quantum in housing disrepair claims and settle written pleadings.
During pupillage, Miranda assisted with drafting the grounds of appeal in a complex multi-party property dispute between a legal owner, beneficial co-owner and a lender, involving priority of interests and accounting for development expenditure.
