Alastair Redpath-Stevens, Lina Mattsson, Simon Allison and Steven Woolf will be examining various aspects of the Right to Manage regime under the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 (whereby tenants of long leasehold properties can take over management of their properties from their landlord or prescribed management company). Whilst undoubtedly a superficially attractive proposition, how does it work in the ‘real world’? The exercise of Right to Manage is fraught with pitfalls and problems, with many aspects still not examined in the higher courts. Whether these issues regularly arise in your practice or only do so infrequently, awareness is key.
Topics to be covered in this seminar will include:
- What are the pros and cons of Right to Manage compared to other options
- Recovery of costs under the Act
- When Right to Manage goes wrong – tales of woe
- Current issues – a panel discussion, inviting participation from delegates to share their own experience.
