Hardwicke welcomes Carolyn McCombe and pays tribute to Deborah Anderson
Hardwicke is delighted to announce that Carolyn McCombe will be joining on 16th December 2019 as Practice Director. Carolyn takes over from Deborah Anderson who is retiring after over 40 years working with the Bar.
“We are thrilled to welcome Carolyn to Hardwicke,” says Brie Stevens-Hoare KC, joint head of chambers. “Carolyn’s depth of experience and expertise will enable us to build on the achievements of our previous Practice Director, Deborah Anderson. Hardwicke has achieved extraordinary growth in recent years and Carolyn’s appointment will help us achieve our next set of ambitious targets.”
Amanda Illing, CEO, agrees. “I could not be more delighted to be welcoming Carolyn whom I have known and respected for many years. I would like to thank and pay tribute to Deborah Anderson who for the last 5 years has brought her own inimitable style, steel and sensitivity to the Practice Director role. I would like to convey every good wish as Deborah develops her London ‘walk and talk’ tours. Meanwhile, I am very excited about the opportunity to join forces with Carolyn and plan for the future.”
“Hardwicke represents an exciting new challenge for me,” says Carolyn. “I am greatly looking forward to getting to know everyone at Hardwicke and helping them continue their fantastic upward trajectory.”
Carolyn has had a long and illustrious career at the Bar starting as the first graduate clerk at 1 Brick Court (now Brick Court Chambers) and then moving to 4 Pump Court as their Senior Clerk and later as their Chief Executive.
As a former disputes solicitor herself, Carolyn understands the priorities of those instructing barristers and appreciates that the quality of service offered by both the individual barristers and practice managers is crucial to the relationship.
Carolyn is the third in a line of dynamic and accomplished Practice Directors appointed since Hardwicke created the position in 2009: Amanda Illing in 2009, Deborah Anderson in 2014 and Carolyn in 2019.
