Over-50s are the new demographic being eyed by the government as a potential solution to the UK’s economic ills. Mel Stride, the work and pensions secretary, is conducting an assessment of barriers to employment and trying to offer up tempting incentives for early retirees to return to work. But with unemployment at a record low and fierce competition to fill vacancies, what can employers do to entice over-50s back into the workplace?
